Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works, Adam Shareef Umar, laid the foundation stone for the new Haa Alifu Filladhoo Council Secretariat building today.
The ceremony was held during President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's official visit to North Thiladhunmathi Atoll (Haa Alifu Atoll). This marks the second council building groundbreaking ceremony of the President's tour, following an earlier ceremony at Muraidhoo.
The Filladhoo Council Secretariat building is part of a nationwide initiative to renovate aging government facilities. The Government has announced construction contracts for 105 island councils, which upon completion will resolve space issues for 70 per cent of councils nationwide.
This initiative is part of President Dr Muizzu's commitment to provide new office buildings to councils facing space constraints.
