President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced an ambitious nationwide initiative to upgrade school infrastructure within the next two years.
During his visit to 10 islands in Haa Alifu Atoll, he reaffirmed the Government’s dedication to addressing critical educational needs, particularly in underserved areas.
While speaking to the residents of Muraidhoo, the President acknowledged the pressing demand for expanded school buildings and increased classroom capacity on several islands, including Muraidhoo itself.
Highlighting the urgency of the matter, he revealed that the Government is in the final stages of drafting a comprehensive plan to equip all schools with essential facilities.
The initiative will prioritise schools based on their specific requirements, focusing on the establishment of infrastructure such as classrooms, laboratories, libraries, staff rooms, and multipurpose halls. To ensure fairness and efficiency, the upgrades will be implemented in phases, allowing resources to be distributed equitably across all regions.
President Dr Muizzu expressed confidence in the Government’s ability to deliver the ambitious project within the proposed timeframe.
