Meeting with members of the Island Council, the Women's Development Committee (WDC), and heads of institutions at the Secretariat of Molhadhoo School, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu engaged in talks on the island’s most pressing concerns, including infrastructure, public services, and community facilities.
During the meeting, council members raised the urgent need for a water and sewerage system, citing the lack of basic utilities as a major issue for residents.
Concerns were also voiced about limited space in schools and council buildings, as well as the worsening effects of coastal erosion. Additionally, the Council highlighted the necessity of a new health centre, noting that the existing facility had not been renovated for many years.
Beyond infrastructure, community development was a focus. Local representatives called for the construction of a futsal ground, volleyball court, children’s park, and a youth and community centre, discussing the importance of recreational and social spaces for the island’s residents.
In response, President Dr Muizzu assured attendees that his Administration would work towards addressing these concerns. He was accompanied by Ministers and institutional representatives, who provided updates on ongoing efforts to resolve the issues raised.
The President also attended a signing ceremony to establish Bank of Maldives ATM services on Molhadhoo. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to improve financial accessibility across the Maldives, ensuring that even remote islands have access to essential banking services.
