A widespread power outage that affected large parts of the city has been traced to a technical issue at the local power plant.

According to officials, the plant’s engines are now back in operation, allowing electricity to be gradually restored to affected areas.

As of now, 75 per cent of the city has had its power supply reinstated, while efforts continue to restore electricity to the remaining areas.

Authorities have acknowledged the inconvenience caused and assured residents that teams are working diligently to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

In a statement posted on X, STELCO apologised for the disruption and confirmed that restoration efforts were ongoing. Residents in areas still without power are advised to remain patient as work progresses. Further updates are expected as the situation develops.
