A Bangladeshi man has died following a traffic accident on the Sinamalé Bridge highway.

The incident occurred at 8:19 a.m. on Saturday when a motorcycle collided with a traffic cone near the solar panels on the lane heading from Hulhumalé to Malé.

Authorities stated that the cones had been placed to mark ongoing maintenance work on the solar panels installed along the side of the highway.

Police confirmed that the injured man was rushed to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) but passed away at 9:05 a.m. while receiving treatment.

An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
