A 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the theft of a motorcycle and several stolen items, police have confirmed.

The arrest was made on June 13 after officers on patrol stopped the suspect on suspicion that the motorcycle he was riding had been stolen. The man, identified as Ismail Saif, was searched, and several stolen mobile phones were found in his possession.

Police said the phones had been reported stolen from a boat docked in Hulhumalé. A stolen grinder, a sander, and other items were also recovered from the vehicle.

Ismail Saif had previously been arrested in September 2024 for robbing a woman of her wallet and phone while she was riding a motorcycle. Investigations into the current case are ongoing.
