President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the remaining section of the Boduthakurufaanu Magu development project will be completed before the end of November.

In a post on X on Saturday, the President said the next phase of the Boduthakurufaanu Magu and harbour area development project, along with the remaining section of the Ring Road between the Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) area and Tsunami Binaa Maizaan, would be completed before the end of November this year.

The announcement comes a day after the Government opened the latest completed section of Boduthakurufaanu Magu, extending the road to the Henveiru Ferry Terminal. The project has widened the road to four lanes through land reclamation and is expected to help ease traffic congestion in the capital.

Under the first two phases, 10,707.43 square metres of land were reclaimed, 1,060 metres of sheet piling were installed, and 18,286 square metres of carriageway were constructed. The works were completed at a cost of MVR 220.3 million.

The third phase of the project is scheduled to commence next month, with the remaining works forming part of the plan to complete the northern section of Boduthakurufaanu Magu.
