Foreign Minister concludes official visit to Saudi Arabia

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Abdullah Khaleel, has completed his official visit to Saudi Arabia, which took place at the invitation of Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.
During his visit, Minister Dr Khaleel held discussions with Prince Faisal and other senior Saudi government officials, focusing on enhancing diplomatic and economic relations between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia. Both sides explored opportunities for future cooperation in various sectors.
The minister also provided an overview of the economic priorities of the Maldives, highlighting efforts to develop tourism, infrastructure, and renewable energy. Strengthening bilateral trade and investment was a key focus during the meetings.
As part of his engagements, Minister Dr Khaleel met with Maldivian nationals and students residing in Riyadh and Madina. Discussions included matters related to their welfare and ways to improve support for Maldivians living in Saudi Arabia.
Emphasising the importance of diplomatic collaboration, the minister noted that stronger coordination between the Maldivian embassy in Riyadh and the Maldives Consulate in Jeddah would contribute to improved services for Maldivians in the country, particularly in Hajj and Umrah travel and consular assistance.
The Foreign Minister was accompanied by Bilateral Secretary Dr Hala Hameed and Joint Secretary Khadija Najiha during the visit.
