The Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology has issued a notice urging employers in the Greater Male' Region to ensure that biometric data for all migrant workers is completed by March 15, 2025.

This includes workers in the capital city of Male’, as well as those in Hulhumale' phase 1 and 2, Thilafushi, and Gulhifalhu.

This directive forms part of the ongoing national operation, Operation Kurangi, led by the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology. The operation aims to collect and update biometric data for all expatriates living in the Maldives. Thousands of migrant workers have already had their biometric data recorded as part of this nationwide initiative.

The Ministry has emphasised that employers who do not meet the deadline for biometric registration will face consequences. Specifically, those who fail to complete the registration for their migrant workers will be temporarily suspended from the expatriate system, along with the suspension of any services provided to them through the system.

A joint-operation centre, located at the National Centre for Information Technology (NCIT), has been established to oversee the collection of biometric data. The Ministry of Internal Security has confirmed that the centre will operate daily from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm, except on Fridays.
