UK High Commissioner presents credentials to the President

The United Kingdom’s High Commissioner to the Maldives, Nicholas David Low, officially presented his Letters of Credence to Maldivian President Dr Mohamed Muizzu during a ceremony at the President's Office this morning.
Marking the beginning of High Commissioner Low’s tenure in the Maldives, the official ceremony reinforced the longstanding diplomatic ties between the two nations.
Following the presentation, President Dr Muizzu and High Commissioner Low engaged in discussions on areas of mutual interest, including trade, climate change, and security cooperation.
Welcoming the new High Commissioner, President Dr Muizzu expressed his appreciation for the enduring relationship between the Maldives and the United Kingdom. He spoke of the UK’s significant role in supporting the Maldives' economic and environmental resilience and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations.
In response, High Commissioner Low reiterated the UK government’s continued support for the Maldives, particularly in areas such as climate action, sustainable development, and democratic governance. He also spoke of his commitment to deepening cooperation between the two countries throughout his tenure.
The United Kingdom and the Maldives have shared diplomatic relations since 1965, fostering strong partnerships in education, tourism, and environmental sustainability.
