Dhiraagu has officially opened registration for the Dhiraagu Fuvahmulah Run 2025, marking the first time the renowned Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race (DMRR) will be held in an atoll outside of Malé.

The event is scheduled to take place on May 2, 2025, with registrations open until February 28, or until the 1,500-runner limit is reached.

Speaking at a press conference held at Dhiraagu’s head office, Mohamed Mirshan Hassan, Director of Brand Marketing and Communications, highlighted that the Fuvahmulah Run is an extension of the Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race, maintaining the same international standards and a World Athletics-certified route.

"The Dhiraagu Fuvahmulah Run is an extension of the Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race. We are prioritising quality over quantity by limiting the number of participants to 1,500," Mirshan stated.

Dhiraagu's Assistant Manager of Brand, Naaiya Shareef, confirmed that the race would feature the same categories as the main Dhiraagu Road Race, including:

  • Half Marathon (21.1 km)
  • 10K race
  • 5K race
  • Schools categories (Under 13 & Over 13)

The Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race is the only international race held in the Maldives, officially listed under the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) and included in the World Running Calendar. With the addition of the Fuvahmulah Run, this new event is also recognised under AIMS, further strengthening the Maldives' position on the global running stage.

The total prize pool for the Fuvahmulah Run stands at MVR 232,000, with individual prizes awarded across different categories. The top three winners will receive:

  • 1st place: MVR 25,000
  • 2nd place: MVR 15,000
  • 3rd place: MVR 10,000

Additional prize money of MVR 10,000, MVR 8,000, and MVR 6,000 will be awarded in the 10K and 5K categories. Winners in the school category will also be recognised.

The race is organised in collaboration with the Fuvahmulah City Council, the Women's Development Committee, and the Athletics Association of Maldives. Dhiraagu has also committed to donating MVR 100 from each registration to the City Council to support development projects in Fuvahmulah.

Registration fees are set at:

  • MVR 250 for 5K and 10K participants
  • MVR 350 for half marathon runners

Runners also have the option to compete in dual categories.

Dhiraagu has expressed that the expansion of the Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race to Fuvahmulah sheds light on the company’s priority to foster a healthier and more active community, while also supporting local tourism by showcasing the island's unique landscape.

In addition to the Fuvahmulah Run, Dhiraagu will also host the annual Hulhumalé edition of the race, scheduled for October 24, 2025.

The official race kit and medals were displayed at the press conference, with organisers promising a high-quality event that will offer an unforgettable experience for runners.

With a limited number of slots available, Dhiraagu urges interested participants to register early to secure their place in this landmark race.
