The First Lady Madam Sajidha Mohamed declared women's health as a cornerstone of strong families and resilient communities at the Hiyala 2025 Surgical Workshop's closing ceremony on Wednesday evening at Dharumavantha Hospital.

The workshop, "Empowering Women's Health: Through State-of-the-Art Minimally Invasive Surgery," aimed to advance medical expertise for improved healthcare in the Maldives. Madam Sajidha emphasised that the knowledge shared would lead to safer, more effective treatments for women.

The First Lady highlighted the importance of addressing both physical and psychological aspects of patient care, calling for holistic treatment that respects women's unique experiences. She noted that gynaecological issues, which affect nearly all women, remain among the country's most common surgical procedures.

Discussing invasive procedures, Madam Sajidha pointed out the challenges of long recovery times and potential complications. She emphasised women's need for swift remedies to return to their roles as mothers, leaders, entrepreneurs, and activists, encouraging the prioritisation of surgical advancements that minimise risks and recovery time.

Medical professionals from Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), Tree Top Hospital (TTH), and Hulhumale' Hospital attended the workshop.
