President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has conveyed Waitangi Day greetings to New Zealand's Governor-General Dame Cindy Kiro, GNZM, QSO, and Prime Minister Christopher Luxon.

In separate messages to both leaders, President Dr Muizzu emphasised the strong bilateral friendship and reaffirmed the Maldives' commitment to enhancing collaboration, particularly in climate action and sustainable development.

The President extended wishes for the leaders' wellbeing and the continued prosperity of New Zealand's people.

Waitangi Day, celebrated annually on February 6th, commemorates the signing of New Zealand's founding document, the "Treaty of Waitangi." The Maldives and New Zealand have maintained diplomatic relations since October 10, 1974.
