The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed it is closely monitoring the safety and wellbeing of Maldivian students and residents in Pakistan, following recent escalations in tensions between India and Pakistan.

The situation follows a deadly attack by an armed group late last month, which India has blamed on Pakistan. The incident has led to retaliatory actions from both sides, including military responses, raising concerns for foreign nationals in the region.

In a statement issued on Thursday night, the Ministry assured that it is taking all necessary measures to ensure the security of Maldivians currently in Pakistan. The Maldivian High Commission in Islamabad is actively engaged with local authorities, who have reported that educational institutions and offices in Pakistan are functioning normally.

The Ministry urged all Maldivians in Pakistan to stay vigilant, prioritise their safety, and adhere to guidance issued by both the Pakistani authorities and the Maldivian High Commission.

Maldivians experiencing difficulties or requiring assistance are advised to contact the High Commission in Pakistan at +923008504143 or the Foreign Ministry’s hotline at 7983400.
