The digitalisation initiative, 'Maldives 2.0', will be implemented under the direct supervision of a special council chaired by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

Speaking at the inauguration of the 'Maldives 2.0 Digital Transformation Summit' at Barceló Nasandhura on Friday night, Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan confirmed that the Maldives Digital Transformation Council will oversee the implementation of the policy. The council will include local and international experts in the field of digital innovation.

Minister Ihusaan said the policy was developed with insights from global digital experts and prominent Maldivian specialists. He emphasised that the initiative has the full backing and participation of all three branches of the state, along with every public institution.

The Minister also highlighted that during the two-part Digital Transformation Summit, institutions would work collaboratively to define the national digital transformation agenda. He affirmed that once finalised, the policy’s implementation would proceed at a rapid pace.
