President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has issued a correction following an error in his statement at the inauguration of the 'Maldives 2.0 Digital Transformation Summit' on Friday evening.

In a post on X, the President clarified a point made during the ceremony, where he had expressed his hope that, once digitalisation is complete, one-third of the current workforce would be able to work from home.

He explained that, although no decisions had been made at this stage, he hoped that by the start of 2028, approximately one-third of the nearly 49,000 state employees would transition to remote work under specific guidelines, within legal frameworks and established standards.

However, the President had mistakenly stated that employees would be required to attend the office for ‘30 hours per week.’ In his post, he corrected the error, stating that he had intended to say ‘30 hours per month’ and apologised for the confusion.
