Dr Ismail Shafeeu, Minister of Education, stated that the nation’s collective resolve should be to provide a safe, secure, and nurturing environment for every child in the Maldives.

In his address on the occasion of Children’s Day, Minister Dr Shafeeu urged all schools to embody these values, emphasising the need for institutions where children feel protected, supported, and joyful. He remarked that such an environment could only be realised through the concerted efforts of teachers, island councillors, parents, and independent institutions.

He further noted that, through unity and cooperation, the country could ensure a happy and promising future for its children, while fostering a resilient generation capable of leading the nation forward.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, also commemorated the occasion. He highlighted the significance of nurturing an atmosphere marked by discipline and mutual respect in every aspect of a child’s life, within the home, in public spaces, and throughout society.

He stressed that it was the nation’s paramount duty to raise children as strong and principled individuals, and to uphold the sovereignty, dignity, and core values of the Maldivian people.
