President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended condolences upon the passing of Mohamed Nazeer (Sunland Nazeer).

He passed away yesterday while undergoing treatment for his illness in the UK. 

Nazeer was a shareholder of Sunland Hotels and served the Government as the Trade Representative of the Maldives High Commission in the UK. 

In a post on X, the President extended condolences to his family and honoured his long-standing contributions to the country’s tourism and trade sectors.

President Dr Muizzu concluded his condolence message praying for his ease.

Nazeer’s contributions to the tourism sector include starting a family-owned travel agency in 1976, which became official in 1985. Soon after, in 1990, the company entered the resort market, where its first resort, Makunudu Resort, was established. Nazeer is also a prominent figure in the marketing field.
