The Maldives Police Service has denied allegations that Raudh Ahmed Zilal has left the country, stating that the travel ban issued against him remains in effect.

Claims surfaced on social media today, accompanied by a photo, alleging that Raudh had travelled abroad while his case remains open. However, police have refuted the claims, affirming that he is still within the country.

Raudh Ahmed Zilal, who was previously arrested in connection with the 18 April incident involving the fall of 21-year-old Hawwa Yumnu Rasheed, is currently facing charges submitted by the Prosecutor General’s Office. He has not been found guilty, and the case is pending trial.

The Prosecutor General’s Office has formally charged Raudh with failing to assist a person in need without a justifiable reason, under Section 618 of the Maldives Penal Code. This section outlines the legal duty to aid individuals in distress.

The charge relates to an incident that occurred at approximately 4:54 a.m. on 18 April, when Yumnu reportedly fell from a window in the stairwell on the ninth floor of H. Fentenoy.

Despite formal charges being filed, investigators have not yet obtained an official statement from the victim. If convicted, Raudh could face a custodial sentence of one month and six days.
