The Maldives International Education and Wellness Expo has officially opened, showcasing more than 200 opportunities in higher education, training, and the wellness sector.
The event was inaugurated by Dr Ali Haidar Ahmed, Minister of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development.
This marks the first international education and wellness expo organised by Maldives Exhibition and Conference Services (MECS).
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Minister Dr Haidar emphasised the vital role of foreign educational institutions, noting that a significant number of Maldivian students pursue higher education abroad. He also stated that the Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA) has implemented regulations to evaluate and accredit these institutions.
The expo features over 40 local and international providers, offering more than 100 courses across diverse fields, including Business, Accounting, Information Technology, Hospitality, Medicine, Nursing, Biomedical Science, Game Development, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Electrical Engineering, Aviation, Architecture, Fashion, and Interior Design.
Participants include local universities and colleges, as well as leading higher education providers from Australia, the UK, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, India, and the Philippines.
The expo is open daily from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Central Park in Hulhumalé until June 15.
