President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that Islamic values remain essential to overcoming societal challenges and achieving lasting prosperity, in a special address marking the Islamic New Year 1447 AH.

The President said the Hijrah, the Prophet Muhammad’s (Peace Be Upon Him) migration, offers enduring lessons of faith, resilience and strategic planning that are especially relevant in today’s world. He emphasised that values such as unity, trust in divine guidance and shared purpose provide critical direction for societies facing modern-day crises.

Calling on Maldivians to remain steadfast in their faith, the President said the nation’s security and collective well-being are closely tied to religious commitment. He added that national resilience depends on the consistent observance of Islamic principles at both personal and societal levels.

President Dr Muizzu also expressed concern over the suffering of Muslim communities affected by conflict, particularly in the Middle East. He extended prayers of solidarity from the Maldivian people and called for peace and unity across the Islamic world.

He further noted the important role of youth and women in upholding and advancing Islamic values, while also stressing the significance of cooperation and inclusivity in building a just society.

The President concluded his address with prayers for the safety, independence and continued prosperity of the Maldives, and for strength and protection for the global Islamic Ummah.
