Motorcycles worth MVR 3.3 million recovered in June: Police

Motorcycles valued at MVR 3.3 million were among the most significant recoveries by police in June 2025, according to statistics released by the Maldives Police Service.

A total of 69 motorcycles were retrieved, making them the most commonly recovered stolen items during the month. In total, police recovered 193 stolen or missing items, including mobile phones, cash, electronics, and other belongings. The breakdown is as follows:

  • 29 mobile phones worth MVR 202,375
  • 69 motorcycles worth MVR 3.3 million
  • 26 cases of stolen money totalling MVR 406,098
  • 8 electronic items valued at MVR 80,400
  • 61 other items worth MVR 110,263

Police also reported 292 theft cases in June, one of the highest among reported incidents.

As part of routine enforcement, officers conducted 1,037 hours and 48 minutes of foot patrols, 45,380 location checks, and maintained visibility and traffic control at 11 points.

In total, 5,015 individuals were stopped and questioned, including 4,833 with criminal records. Thirteen foreign nationals were handed over to Maldives Immigration.

Police continue to carry out targeted operations aimed at improving road safety, reducing theft, and addressing criminal activity across the country.
