President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended heartfelt Independence Day greetings to the people of the Maldives, as the nation celebrates 60 years since gaining independence.

In a message shared via his official X account, President Dr Muizzu conveyed his sincere congratulations and best wishes to all Maldivians on the occasion. He also offered prayers for continued freedom and lasting prosperity for the country.

The day began with nationwide flag-hoisting ceremonies, including the official ceremony attended by President Dr Muizzu, where he greeted guests and extended his Independence Day wishes in person.

Celebrations are set to continue throughout the day, with the highlight being the inauguration of the new passenger terminal at Velana International Airport, a landmark development in the country’s aviation sector.
