President Dr Mohamed Muiizu has sent National Day greetings, reaffirming commitment to preservation of nationhood and independence.

Posting on X, the President said that as the nation celebrates the 466th anniversary of the independence movement led by Sultan Mohamed Thakurufaanul Auzam (Bodu Thakurufaanu), the memories, lessons, and pride of that historic struggle remain alive in the hearts of Maldivians.

He added that every Maldivian heartbeat serves as a reminder to draw inspiration and moral guidance from the actions of the nation’s heroes.

This year’s National Day celebrations are being carried out in Haa Alifu Utheemu, where the independence movement was born. The President and senior government officials are now attending festivities at Utheemu.
