Construction has commenced on a new 30-bed hospital in Haa Dhaalu Hanimaadhoo. The groundbreaking ceremony was held during President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s visit to the island, part of his tour of South Thiladhunmathi.

Health Minister Abdulla Nazim formally initiated the project, accompanied by Road Development Corporation Managing Director Ibrahim Naseem and the President of Hanimaadhoo Council.

In his address to the community, President Dr Muizzu stated that the new hospital would play a vital role in enhancing healthcare services on the island. He announced that by the end of this year, dialysis services would be introduced at the Hanimaadhoo Health Centre, together with the appointment of a paediatrician and a gynaecologist.

The Government is strengthening the nation’s health system, prioritising hospital and health centre upgrades to ensure accessible medical care across the atolls.
