Maldives records MVR 210 million in exports for July 2025

The Maldives Customs Service has reported exports worth MVR 210 million in July 2025.

According to the latest statistics, frozen skipjack tuna remained the top export commodity, valued at MVR 126 million. This was followed by skipjack tuna at MVR 43 million, yellowfin tuna at MVR 7 million, yellowfin tuna loins at MVR 6 million, and fishmeal products such as flours, meals and pellets unfit for human consumption at MVR 5 million.

Thailand was the leading export destination, accounting for 53 per cent of shipments. The United Kingdom followed with 18 per cent, while Mauritius received 5 per cent, France 4 per cent and Vietnam 3 per cent.

Imports for July were valued at MVR 4.5 billion including fuel and MVR 3.6 billion excluding fuel. Fuel remained the largest import category at MVR 923 million, followed by food items at MVR 859 million, machinery and mechanical appliances at MVR 735 million, and products of the chemical and allied industries at MVR 308 million.

China was the largest source of imports, supplying goods worth MVR 712 million. India closely followed with MVR 704 million, while imports from the United Arab Emirates stood at MVR 622 million, Oman at MVR 513 million and Singapore at MVR 432 million.

In terms of vessel movement, Customs reported that 105 vessels arrived in July 2025 compared with 97 in July 2024. Departures totalled 96 this year, compared with 118 in the same month last year.
