Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef attended the closing of the Eydhafushi Cup 2025 at Eydhafushi Stadium on 15 September.
The Vice President was welcomed by Eydhafushi Council President Mohamed Fathih, and met with players from both teams, offering encouragement before the final kick off. Following the match, he awarded the champions with medals, the trophy, and prize money during the official ceremony.
The final saw Velaa Sports Club retain their championship with a 2-1 win over Irumathi FC. Ali Zubair gave Velaa the lead in the first half, while Abdul Majeed extended the advantage after the break from a counter-attack launched by goalkeeper Mifdad Ahmed.
Irumathi FC, missing their key forward through suspension, managed a late response when Ali Naseem converted a penalty in stoppage time. Despite the effort, Velaa held on to secure victory in front of a packed stadium and a lively crowd of supporters.
Individual awards were presented at the ceremony, with Velaa goalkeeper Mifdad Ahmed earning both Player of the Match and Best Goalkeeper. The Top Scorer title was shared by Irumathi FC’s Prince Boadu and Huss Songun’s Ibrahim Oladimeji Jimoh, each with two goals. Irumathi FC’s Abdulla Jaushan was named Most Promising Player, while Imthishaal Abdul Rahim received the Best Player of the tournament award. The Fair Play award was presented to Aajeelakah Eydhafushi Football Academy.
