President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed his commitment to completing all ongoing development projects in Maroshi, including the island’s road development initiative and the upgrade of the Maroshi Health Centre to a 24-hour facility next year.
Speaking with Maroshi residents and local leaders during his visit to Shaviyani Atoll, the President said that the Government aims to improve road connectivity on the island by expanding the current development project to include key routes that link major areas. He assured that obstacles affecting the project’s progress will be addressed to ensure smoother implementation.
President Dr Muizzu also announced that the Maroshi Health Centre will begin operating as a 24-hour facility next year. He explained that once the 2026 budget is approved, additional staff will be assigned to the centre to enable round-the-clock services.
The President further highlighted that the island’s land reclamation project, which will add 14.5 hectares of land, is a key Government pledge and will resolve long-standing land shortages in Maroshi.
Addressing the community’s educational needs, President Dr Muizzu stated that the Government plans to restore air-conditioned classrooms and staff rooms across the island’s schools under the first phase of the school improvement project. He also announced that a new multipurpose hall will be constructed next year with budgetary approval.
Residents of Maroshi expressed appreciation for the Government’s ongoing development efforts and urged the Administration to expedite the completion of the projects. In response, President Dr Muizzu reaffirmed his Administration’s commitment to advancing the island’s development and improving the quality of life for its residents.
