Several key development projects have commenced in Laamu Hithadhoo as part of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s visit to the island.

Practical works began on the Laamu Hithadhoo–Kunahandhoo Causeway, a major infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity within the atoll.

In addition, construction has started on new sports facilities, including a volleyball court and a Fitness and Recreation Centre. Work has also begun on a new police station as part of the Government’s commitment to establish police facilities on every inhabited island.

President Dr Muizzu inaugurated ATM services in the atoll and attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Bank of Maldives (BML) branch in Hithadhoo.

Meanwhile, practical works have commenced on the extension of the island’s health centre, which will expand healthcare services available to residents.
