First Lady Sajidha Mohamed underscored that the primary goal of breast cancer awareness efforts is to ensure that no woman battling the disease faces it alone.

She made the remarks while inaugurating the Sixth Symposium on Breast Cancer Awareness, which brought together healthcare professionals and advocates working to strengthen the fight against cancer in the Maldives.

In her address, the First Lady commended the dedicated efforts of healthcare workers over the past decade, noting that awareness campaigns have led to early detection, successful treatment, and the saving of countless lives. She highlighted that these efforts have not only improved recovery rates but also offered comfort and hope to women enduring the illness.

She urged the public to recognise that early diagnosis offers a real chance of recovery, encouraging women to seek timely medical care.

The First Lady further stressed that women’s health should be regarded as a fundamental right, not a burden.
