Work has officially begun on three major development projects in Addu City, the Link Road and island road development, the National Library branch, and the Hithadhoo Regional Emergency Operation Centre (REOC). The road development project, contracted to the Road Development Corporation (RDC), was inaugurated by Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr Abdulla Muththalib, prioritising key routes near public institutions and residential areas.

Meanwhile, the National Library branch and Regional Emergency Operation Centre projects, both awarded to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), were launched by Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts Ibrahim Waheed and Defence Minister Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon, respectively. The new emergency centre in Hithadhoo aims to strengthen disaster preparedness and crisis response capabilities across the southern region. All three projects were inaugurated during President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s visit to Addu City, reflecting the Government’s commitment to regional infrastructure and public service development.
