Maldives Police Service in Hulhumalé have arrested four Bangladeshi nationals accused of illegally collecting and selling used cooking oil to resorts in breach of Maldives Food and Drug Authority regulations. The arrests followed a tip-off that oil drums were being offloaded from a dinghy and loaded onto a pickup at the MPL Container Jetty. Officers seized 46 containers of used oil along with a boat, dinghy, and pickup truck during the operation. After a remand hearing, four suspects were ordered into 10-day custody while one was released, as the investigation continues.
