Tourist arrivals surpass 1.85 million as Maldives enters peak season

Total tourist arrivals to the Maldives reached 1.85 million as of 4 November 2025, marking a 9.8 per cent increase compared to the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Tourism and Environment.

In the first four days of November alone, the Maldives welcomed 26,561 tourists, reflecting a 12.6 per cent growth compared to the same period in 2024. The average daily arrival stood at 6,640, showing a steady rise from the October average of 6,143 as the country moves into the high season.

By facility type, resorts continued to lead the sector with 1.37 million stays (73.8 per cent of total arrivals), followed by guesthouses with 397,718 stays (21.5 per cent), hotels with 47,588 stays (2.6 per cent), and safari vessels with 38,416 stays (2.1 per cent).

China remained the Maldives’ largest source market, contributing 16 per cent of total arrivals (296,135 visitors), followed by Russia (12.6 per cent), the United Kingdom (8.8 per cent), Germany (7.4 per cent) and Italy (6.6 per cent). India, the United States, France, Spain, and Australia completed the top-ten list.

As of November, the Maldives had 1,292 operational tourist facilities offering 66,054 beds. Resorts account for 44,239 beds, guesthouses 16,068, hotels 2,484, and safari vessels 3,263.

With the festive season approaching, arrivals are expected to rise further in the coming weeks, supported by enhanced promotional efforts under the Visit Maldives brand across key international markets.
