The Government has opened applications for two expert positions on the newly established Zakat Council, formed under the Zakat Act that came into force on 1 January 2026.
In an announcement, the President’s Office said applications are being sought from individuals with expertise in Zakat who are not currently employed in any Government institution, as required under Section 6(b)(8) of the Act.
Applications will be accepted from Monday until 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, 15 January 2026. Application forms can be submitted to the President’s Office between 8:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on working days. The application form is also available for download from the President’s Office website.
The Zakat Act mandates the establishment of a Zakat Council to provide advisory support to the Minister of Finance and Planning and the Maldives Zakat House on matters related to the administration and management of the national Zakat system.
The formation of the council is aimed at strengthening governance, transparency, and expertise in the administration of Zakat in the Maldives.
