The President’s Office has announced the opening of applications to fill a vacant seat on the Election Commission of the Maldives, as the term of serving member Dr Mohamed Zahir nears expiry.

Application forms can be collected from the President’s Office on working days between 8:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. The deadline for collection and submission is 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 21 January 2026. Forms are also available for download via the President’s Office website, offering applicants both in‑person and online options.

The Election Commission of Maldives, established in 2008 under the Constitution, is composed of five members, each serving a five‑year term.

The Commission is mandated to oversee and administer all state elections and public referendums, ensuring free, fair, and transparent processes across the country’s dispersed islands.
