Funadhoo constituency MP Mohamed Mamdhooh has said that the People’s National Congress (PNC) is expected to receive stronger support from the constituency in the upcoming local council elections than in previous polls.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on MMTV’s Niulhemundhaa Khabaru programme, MP Mamdhooh said preparations in Funadhoo for the local council elections are well underway, adding that public confidence in President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has increased due to closer engagement with local councils.
The MP said that the Administration’s approach of working closely with communities and addressing public concerns has contributed to improved political support for the PNC. He added said support for the party’s ideology, which was lacking in some islands previously, is expected to be seen in this election.
According to the MP, Funadhoo had experienced long periods of neglect under previous administrations. He said that since President Dr Muizzu assumed office, several development projects have been initiated in the constituency within a short time frame, with some nearing completion and others scheduled to begin in the coming months.
