Maldives retains top passport ranking in South Asia; moves up in global ranking

The Maldives passport has been ranked as South Asia’s most powerful travel document for the seventh consecutive year, climbing one place in the latest Henley Passport Index.

Holding the 52nd position globally, Maldivian passport holders enjoy visa-on-arrival access to 92 destinations worldwide.

Within South Asia, the Maldives continues to outperform all regional counterparts in passport strength. India ranks 80th globally, with access to 55 visa-free destinations, while Bhutan is placed 85th, offering access to 50 destinations without a visa.

At the global level, Singapore retains the top position on the Henley Passport Index, granting its citizens visa-free access to 192 destinations. Japan and South Korea share second place, while Denmark, Luxembourg, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland are jointly ranked third.
