President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has conveyed his condolences to the government of Thailand and the bereaved families following a tragic railway accident in the Sikhio district of Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.

In a message, the President extended his condolences to Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and expressed deep sadness over the incident, which claimed dozens of lives and left many others injured. He conveyed the heartfelt sympathies of the Government and the people of the Maldives to the government of Thailand and the families affected by the tragedy.

The President also wished a swift recovery to those injured and expressed hope that search and rescue operations would continue without hindrance.

The accident occurred on Wednesday in northeastern Thailand when a crane fell onto a train carrying around 200 passengers and crew members, resulting in at least 32 deaths and injuries to at least 67 others.
