President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has established the Maldives Digital Service and dissolved the National Centre for Information Technology (NCIT).
According to a statement issued by the President’s Office on Thursday, the Maldives Digital Service has been created and placed under the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology, while the National Centre for Information Technology has been formally dissolved.
The President’s Office said the Cabinet had decided to designate the Maldives Digital Service as the lead agency responsible for implementing the “Maldives 2.0 Roadmap 2025–2028 – Journey to Digital Transformation”.
In addition to overseeing the implementation of the national digital transformation roadmap, the newly established Maldives Digital Service will continue to carry out the functions and responsibilities previously handled by the National Centre for Information Technology.
Maldives 2.0 is the President’s national vision for digital transformation, focused on improving Government services, supporting economic growth and expanding access to essential information across the country.
