The People’s National Congress (PNC)’s mayoral candidate for Fuvahmulah City, Ali Maseeh, has said his vision is to develop Fuvahmulah City into a strong economic hub.
Speaking at a PNC ceremony held in Fuvahmulah City on Friday, Maseeh outlined his development plans for the city and shared his vision with residents.
Maseeh said the council under his leadership would prioritise transforming Fuvahmulah into an economic centre through coordinated planning and close collaboration with the Government.
“My main vision is to develop Fuvahmulah City as a strong economic hub. This can be achieved through the council’s plans, in collaboration with the Government. There is a lot of work to be done, and to achieve this we need to develop an economic plan alongside land use and urban plans. By the end of the council term, we will see significant progress,” he said.
He said residents of Fuvahmulah City need both employment opportunities and avenues to engage in business activities within the city. Maseeh noted that business opportunities have not been adequately facilitated through the council for local entrepreneurs, youth and investors.
As a result, he said he decided to contest the upcoming Council Elections to create and expand such opportunities for the people of Fuvahmulah.
Maseeh added that he would work closely with the public and said he is someone who can engage with people of all ages in the city. He said his decision to contest on the PNC ticket was aimed at delivering lasting solutions to long-standing concerns faced by residents.
He assured the people that he would work in coordination with the Government to implement economic development plans for Fuvahmulah City.
