Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) has participated in the Muslim Travel Show 2026 in London, marking the Maldives’ engagement with the international halal tourism market.
The tourism promotion body took part in the two-day event held at ExCeL London from 7 to 8 February, in collaboration with the International Halal Tourism Organization (IHTO) Maldives. The exhibition brought together travel industry stakeholders focused on Muslim-friendly tourism products and services.
According to VMC, the Maldives’ participation was aimed at strengthening its presence in halal-focused tourism platforms and engaging with international partners involved in halal travel services. The event provided an opportunity to interact with tour operators, travel brands, and specialised buyers working within Muslim travel markets, including those based in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Europe.
VMC said discussions held during the exhibition focused on positioning the Maldives within halal tourism frameworks, aligning destination standards with international halal tourism guidelines, and building working relationships with organisations involved in halal travel certification and promotion. Engagements were also held with content creators and industry representatives active in halal-friendly travel promotion.
The Maldives’ delegation to the event included representatives from VMC and IHTO Maldives. The High Commissioner of the Maldives to the United Kingdom, Dr Iruthisham Adam, and Deputy High Commissioner Mohamed Ahmed also visited the exhibition venue during the event, where they met with organisers and stakeholders involved in Muslim travel markets.
VMC noted that demand from Muslim travellers for premium leisure destinations has continued to grow, with increased interest in high-end travel experiences. The corporation said participation in international halal tourism exhibitions forms part of broader efforts to engage with emerging travel segments and diversify tourism markets.
The Muslim Travel Show is an annual industry event that brings together tourism authorities, travel companies, and service providers specialising in Muslim-friendly travel products and services.
