Sustainable development in the Maldives is firmly rooted in the policies of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, as reflected in his Presidential Address, Member of Parliament for the Dhidhdhoo constituency Abdul Latheef Mohamed has said.

Speaking on MMTV’s programme Riyaasee Bayaan, MP Abdul Latheef stated that the Presidential Address delivered this year by President Dr Muizzu is the most comprehensive address delivered by a president in the country’s history. He said the address clearly identifies the major challenges facing the nation and outlines detailed solutions to address them.

The MP said President Dr Muizzu has placed particular emphasis on ensuring that essential public services required by citizens are easily accessible within their own islands. He noted that the President’s vision focuses on practical implementation, highlighting ongoing initiatives such as the expansion of ATM services, strengthening police services, development of public parks, and the establishment of sports facilities across islands.

Abdul Latheef further said the President is personally engaging with citizens and local councils to better understand public needs and resolve issues faced by communities, describing these efforts as a clear reflection of the President’s commitment to sustainable development.

Referring to preparations for the upcoming month of Ramadan, the MP said the President has taken a strong and positive decision to ensure that essential goods are made available to the public at affordable prices through the State Trading Organization (STO). He stressed that steps have been taken to ensure these goods are distributed to islands in a sustainable and long-term manner.

The MP reiterated that President Dr Muizzu’s core objective is to make essential services easily accessible within islands, reducing the burden on citizens who otherwise have to travel long distances to obtain basic services. He said this approach offers a major solution to long-standing difficulties faced by the public in accessing Government services.
