The President’s Office has held the fourth session of its lecture series under the Executive Development Program (EDP) 2025–2027, aimed at strengthening the capacity of senior Government officials.

The session took place on Wednesday at the Islamic Centre’s conference hall and was organised as a preparatory lecture ahead of the holy month of Ramadan. Senior officials from various Government ministries and institutions attended the programme.

The lecture was delivered by Sheikh Dr Ilyas Hussain, who focused on four main themes: the significance of Ramadan, the importance of carrying out responsibilities with integrity, making the most of the holy month, and adopting positive changes in personal conduct.

During his address, Shekih Dr Ilyas spoke about the mercy and forgiveness bestowed upon believers during Ramadan. He highlighted that fasting is prescribed to cultivate Taqwah, and emphasised that the full spiritual reward of fasting can only be attained when observed sincerely and wholeheartedly. He also noted that Ramadan is the month in which the Holy Quran was revealed, encouraging increased recitation of the Quran and engagement in night worship.

Concluding the session, Sheikh Dr Ilyas stressed that good deeds must be performed with sincerity, honesty and trustworthiness in order to be accepted. He added that observing Ramadan with genuine commitment can lead to lasting personal reform throughout the rest of the year.

At the end of the lecture, a certificate of appreciation was presented to Sheikh Ilyas by National Security Advisor at the President’s Office, Ibrahim Latheef.

The EDP Program is a two-year initiative led by the Political Affairs Office of the President’s Office as part of efforts to enhance leadership and professional development within State institutions.
