Raajje Transport Link (RTL) ferry services will commence operations in Faafu and Dhaalu atolls on 17 February 2026, expanding the network aimed at improving inter-island sea connectivity.

The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation said the services will begin tomorrow, with a one-week trial period offered free of charge to allow residents to familiarise themselves with the routes and schedules. The trial phase will run until 25 February, after which regular fares will apply. Tickets can be purchased through the RTL website and mobile application.

According to the ministry, two ferries will be deployed to operate four routes across the two atolls. The network includes two routes within Dhaalu Atoll, one route within Faafu Atoll, and one inter-atoll route connecting Faafu Nilandhoo and Dhaalu Meedhoo, providing a direct sea transport link between the two atolls.

The services will be operated by Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC). The ministry said public awareness sessions have been conducted in Faafu and Dhaalu atolls to brief residents on route information, service schedules, fares and safety guidelines ahead of the launch.

The RTL ferry system, launched in 2022, is intended to provide affordable and reliable sea transport between islands. The national ferry network is being implemented in phases across six operational zones, with services already active in four zones. The remaining zones are scheduled to be covered within the next six months.
