President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has departed on an official visit to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to attend the oath-taking ceremony of the country’s new government.
The visit is being undertaken at the invitation of Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of the Government of Bangladesh. The oath ceremony is scheduled to take place on 17 February 2026.
During the visit, which runs from 16 to 18 February 2026, President Dr Muizzu is also scheduled to meet the newly elected Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Tarique Rahman, to discuss matters of mutual interest and avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation.
Bangladesh recently concluded its 13th National Parliamentary Elections, in which the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) secured victory, paving the way for the formation of a new government. The elections marked a significant political development in the country, drawing both domestic and international attention.
