The Bank of Maldives (BML) has announced its innovative digital wallet, Swipe, as the official wallet of Visit Maldives, following a strategic partnership formalised at a signing ceremony held at BML headquarters.
The agreement was signed by Mohamed Shareef, CEO & Managing Director of BML, and Ibrahim Shiuree, CEO & Managing Director of Visit Maldives.
Under the partnership, Swipe will serve as the premier payment solution for tourists visiting the Maldives, offering a secure and convenient digital platform that reflects the nation’s commitment to innovation and premium hospitality.
Developed entirely in the Maldives, Swipe is a multi-currency digital wallet built to meet both domestic regulatory requirements and international payment standards. It supports local and international transactions, with funding options available through BML accounts or any credit, debit, or prepaid card.
Since its limited release in January, Swipe has introduced features such as instant person-to-person transfers, QR payments, spending insights, shareable payment links, and simplified top-ups and withdrawals.
This collaboration builds on the broader partnership established last year between BML and Visit Maldives, underscoring a shared vision to accelerate digital transformation in the tourism sector, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen the Maldives’ global competitiveness as a travel destination.
