Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has been contracted to develop housing units in Alifu Dhaalu Mahibadhoo and Kun'burudhoo.

The agreement was signed by State Minister for Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Ismail Hameed on behalf of the Government, while Managing Director Brigadier General (Retired) Ali Zuhair signed on behalf of HDC, with the projects aimed at improving access to housing in both islands. The signing ceremony was attended by Mahibadhoo Member of Parliament Ahmed Thariq.

Under the projects, 25 three-bedroom housing units will be developed in Kun'burudhoo within a period of 480 days, while 100 housing units will be constructed in Mahibadhoo with a completion timeline of 540 days, forming part of efforts to ease housing challenges faced by residents.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu had previously visited the islands in October last year and assured that housing projects would commence early this year.
