The Maldives National University (MNU) has passed its mid-cycle review for International Quality Accreditation, a status awarded by the UK-based Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA).

The evaluation ensures that the university’s international accreditation remains valid until October 2028.

During a press conference held on Tuesday, Vice Chancellor Dr Aishath Shehenaz Adam emphasised that maintaining rigorous standards across teaching, learning, and research continues to be the university's primary focus.

She noted that the QAA’s endorsement provides significant momentum for MNU’s 2026–2030 strategic plan. This roadmap prioritises academic excellence alongside the development of graduates who possess the professional skills and ethical values necessary to contribute to national development.

While the QAA accreditation is initially granted for a five-year term, institutions must undergo a comprehensive mid-cycle review to confirm they are consistently meeting international benchmarks.

Since first achieving this status in 2023, MNU has implemented various quality enhancement initiatives to align its curriculum and institutional practices with global standards.
