President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that he welcomes the election outcome, assuring the public that the Government will continue to deliver on public aspirations, following Saturday’s nationwide elections.

In a post on X, the President assured that his Administration will continue efforts to address areas requiring improvement, and continue to govern the nation guided by public will.

The elections included Local Council polls, Women’s Development Committee (WDC) elections, and a Public Referendum on whether to hold presidential and parliamentary elections concurrently.

President Dr Muizzu welcomed the outcomes of all three electoral processes and extended congratulations to the elected candidates.

Preliminary figures released by the Elections Commission show that 71.35 per cent of votes were cast against the referendum and 28.65 per cent in favour. However, 80.44 per cent of results remain pending, indicating that the final outcome has yet to be determined.
