The State Trading Organization (STO) has announced that distribution of cooking gas has returned to normal following the arrival of a new shipment.
In a statement shared with the media, STO confirmed that 10kg gas cylinders are once again available to the public through its subsidiary, Maldive Gas.
The restoration of supply follows a temporary limitations driven by a surge in demand. During the shortage, Maldive Gas managed its inventory by restricting the sale of 10kg cylinders and offering 5kg cylinders at discounted rates to ensure wider access for consumers. STO noted that with the latest delivery, the previous distribution protocols have been reinstated and supply levels have stabilised.
The company further emphasised that it is closely monitoring the situation to prevent further interruptions to this essential service. Priority is being given to maintaining a consistent supply chain despite external pressures.
The Government continues to work toward ensuring a stable supply of fuel and gas nationwide. These efforts come amid fluctuations in global oil markets linked to ongoing tensions in the Middle East, which had contributed to the recent supply constraints and the subsequent need for controlled distribution measures.
